The OSG 220-1719 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in metalworking applications. It carries an 11/64 inch (0.1719 inch decimal) diameter with a 118-degree point angle and a web-thinned, tapered-web tip that reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating compatibility or cost are factors. With an overall length of 2-3/4 inches and a 1-5/8 inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. Installation is performed by machinists and metalworking professionals on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools.
The 220-1719 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The two-flute spiral configuration provides efficient chip evacuation during these operations. This is a general-purpose bit appropriate for production and maintenance machining environments where a reliable, cost-effective solid carbide drill is needed across a moderate size range of 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks accepting an 11/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 220D general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill line.
Secure the shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck and verify runout before drilling. Solid carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading and do not use in applications with significant vibration or interrupted cuts without confirming suitability. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace any bit showing chipping or wear to prevent workpiece damage.
