The OSG 220-1440 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built to Series 220D specifications, it carries a No. 27 wire gauge designation corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.1440 inches (3.66 mm). The 118-degree web-thinned point promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust requirements at the cutting edge. A bright, uncoated finish keeps heat dissipation straightforward in general-purpose drilling applications. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 1.375-inch spiral flute, this bit fits standard jobber-length toolholding setups used by machinists and toolroom technicians.
The 220-1440 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Its regular spiral and two-flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in both production and maintenance drilling scenarios. The straight-cylindrical shank interfaces with standard drill chucks and collet holders across manual and CNC machine platforms. This bit is a general-purpose choice for job shops, maintenance facilities, and production machining environments handling P, M, K, and N material groups.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the specified diameter. Suitable for use on manual drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers processing P, M, K, and N workpiece material groups.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout before drilling to maintain diameter tolerance. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup.
