The OSG 220-0890 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit sized to wire gauge 43, equal to 0.0890 decimal inch (2.26 mm). It is built for precision hole-making in metalworking applications where carbide hardness and rigidity are required. The 118-degree web-thinned point reduces entry thrust and helps the bit self-center without a pilot hole. At 2 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld pneumatic drills. A bright, uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for direct heat dissipation. The straight-cylindrical shank and regular spiral flute geometry make it a general-purpose option for shops drilling small-diameter holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The OSG 220-0890 is intended for production and maintenance drilling in metal fabrication, tool and die, aerospace component machining, and similar trade applications. It performs in blind hole, cross hole, through-hole drilling, and self-centering operations. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The bit is sold individually and is appropriate for machinists, tool room technicians, and industrial maintenance trades working with small-diameter, close-tolerance holes.
Designed as an OSG Series 220D general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this bit.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or industrial maintenance technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck before use and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance for small-diameter carbide tooling. Carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping under side loading or interrupted cuts, so avoid lateral force during drilling. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements when operating drill presses or CNC equipment with this bit.
