Product Description

The OSG 220-0670 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size 51, equivalent to 0.0670 inches (1.70 mm) in diameter. It features a 118-degree web-thinned drill point and a bright uncoated finish. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid bit built for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix clear chips efficiently during operation. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working in metal fabrication, tooling, and repair are the primary users of this bit.

The OSG 220-0670 Series 220D bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering operations in a range of metallic workpieces. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and precision benchtop drill presses where rigidity and dimensional accuracy are priorities. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied at the point of cut when drilling heat-sensitive materials.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance for small-diameter precision drilling
  • Wire gauge size 51 (0.0670 inches / 1.70 mm) with diameter tolerance of +0 to -0.013 mm
  • 118-degree web-thinned point reduces entry thrust and improves self-centering
  • Bright uncoated finish - suitable for a wide range of metals without coating compatibility concerns
  • Two regular spiral flutes with tapered web configuration for efficient chip evacuation
  • Rated for general-purpose tool applications: blind holes, cross holes, drilling, and self-centering

Compatibility

Designed as a general-purpose replacement drill bit for applications requiring wire gauge size 51 solid carbide tooling in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 220D range of jobber length carbide drill bits.

Installation Notes

Install the straight-cylindrical shank into a compatible drill chuck and verify secure seating before operation. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling in accordance with standard shop safety procedures. Because this bit does not have coolant-through capability, apply external cutting fluid or coolant at the cutting zone to manage heat buildup, especially when drilling stainless steel or cast iron. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading or interrupted cuts.
