The OSG 215-2570 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-precision hole-making in demanding industrial and machining applications. Sized at 0.257 inches (Letter F, 6.53 mm) in diameter with a 135-degree split point and web-thinned geometry, this bit starts accurately without a center punch and reduces thrust at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. With an overall length of 2-5/8 inches and a flute length of 1-7/16 inches, the compact screw machine length profile provides added rigidity in CNC drilling, turret lathes, and screw machine setups where shorter overhang matters.
This bit is suited for production machining environments handling steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloys. The slow spiral flute geometry and solid carbide construction make it appropriate for materials that demand edge integrity and consistent chip evacuation at elevated cutting speeds. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production operators working on precision components will find this bit appropriate for repeatable, close-tolerance drilling where bit deflection must be minimized.
Compatible with steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloys as primary workpiece materials. Fits any machine spindle or collet accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the 0.257-inch diameter. Part of the OSG Series 215 general-purpose carbide drill line with a flute-by-diameter ratio of 5xD.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the tool manufacturer-recommended retention depth before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against material-specific cutting data for solid carbide tooling before running. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply flood or mist coolant externally where required by the workpiece material.
