The OSG 215-2090 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in the Series 215 line, designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. It carries a No. 4 wire gauge size corresponding to 0.2090 decimal inch (5.31 mm) diameter and features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced walking on entry. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required or where the user will apply a dedicated cutting fluid. Overall length is 2.374 inches with a 1.25-inch flute length. Two slow-spiral flutes and a tapered web configuration provide good chip evacuation in short-to-medium depth holes.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloy. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks found on bench-mounted drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers. It is appropriate for trade and industrial use wherever a compact, general-purpose wire-gauge drill is needed for precise hole sizing in harder and softer metals alike.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber drill for use with standard three-jaw drill chucks in hand drills, drill presses, and machining centers. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloy as specified by OSG for this series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician following standard safe work practices. Secure the shank fully into the drill chuck and verify runout before use. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole quality.
