The OSG 215-0469 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metal and alloy materials. It measures 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 1.5 inches and a flute length of 0.5 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and allows drilling without a center punch in most setups. The bright, uncoated HSS finish suits standard shop use where coolant or coated tools are not required. A right-hand cutting spiral flute with a slow helix evacuates chips effectively in the small-diameter bore. Web thinning and a tapered web configuration improve cutting efficiency at this size.
This drill bit is suited for light-duty precision drilling in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloys. At 3/64 inch diameter, it is commonly used in instrument assembly, electrical enclosure work, HVAC sheet metal, and other small-hole applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collets without modification. It is sold individually, making it practical as a replacement bit for broken or worn tooling in job-site kits.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement drill bit rated for steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum silicate, nickel alloy, titanium, and titanium alloys. Fits any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.0469 inch diameter. Part of OSG Series 215.
Install and remove drill bits only while the drill press or power tool is fully de-energized and the chuck has stopped rotating. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation. At 3/64 inch diameter, use low feed pressure to avoid bit breakage, particularly when entering curved or hardened surfaces. Proper RPM selection for the workpiece material should follow standard machining speed and feed tables.
