The OSG 20555001 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding applications. It carries a 1/2-inch diameter, a 5/8-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The tool is coated with OSG EXO (TiAlN-based PVD coating), which provides elevated heat resistance and wear protection during aggressive cutting. With five flutes and a variable helix design, it manages chip evacuation and minimizes chatter on difficult workpiece materials. Qualified machinists and CNC operators working with stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials will find this tool appropriate for both roughing and finishing operations.
This end mill is designed primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — workpiece material codes M, S, and H. It is suited to vertical machining centers and horizontal mills using a Weldon flat toolholder. The stub-length configuration and 2.5-inch overall length keep the tool rigid in the spindle, reducing deflection when cutting high-hardness alloys. The variable index flute spacing further dampens harmonic vibration during sustained cuts. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction.
Designed for use with Weldon flat toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, H). Part of the OSG Series 2055 end mill family.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Verify the Weldon flat toolholder is clean, undamaged, and torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before running the spindle. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the toolholder minimum before clamping. Never exceed the rated RPM or feed rate for the workpiece material and tool diameter combination as determined by the machinist or programmer.
