The OSG 20480400 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0600 inch corner radius, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 45-degree high-helix angle. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry and smooth side-wall finishing in a single setup. At 4 inches overall length with a 2-1/8 inch reach and 1/4 inch length of cut, this tool is suited for deep-reach applications where clearance and rigidity are critical. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well-matched to aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This end mill fits standard toolholder applications in CNC machining centers and manual mills where a long-reach, corner-radius profile is required. The coarse pitch and right-hand cutting direction support aggressive material removal in roughing passes on non-ferrous stock. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance ensures consistent runout in collet and end-mill holders. It is part of the OSG Series 2048 long-length program.
Designed for use with standard collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end-mill toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (UNSPSC material code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the toolholder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the recommended engagement depth. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production run. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut when cutting non-ferrous materials.
