The OSG 20224200 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations on non-ferrous metals. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the base of milled features and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner geometries. The 2-flute, right-hand helical design promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited to aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. With a 1 inch length of cut and 2.75 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholder setups in CNC machining centers and manual mills. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge and slot entry moves as well as peripheral milling.
The OSG 20224200 is intended for roughing applications on non-ferrous workpieces in production and job-shop environments. Its coarse pitch and medium helix angle support aggressive material removal rates while the straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures consistent runout when secured in a collet or end mill holder. This tool fits the OSG Series 2022 lineup and is appropriate for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar platforms where 7/16 inch toolholding capacity is available.
Designed for use with standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and toolholders accepting a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials per OSG Series 2022 application guidelines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine control in an e-stop or locked-out state. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications when tightening set screws or collet nuts. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if dropped or impacted.
