The OSG 200-0625 is a solid carbide straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from solid carbide with a bright finish, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for tight-tolerance work in tool steel, hardened materials, and die components. The 1/16 inch cutting diameter and 140-degree point angle make it well-suited for applications where standard high-speed steel bits lack the wear resistance or accuracy to perform reliably. With an overall length of 1.625 inches and a 0.625 inch flute length, this bit is compact and optimized for controlled chip evacuation in short-depth bores.
The 200-0625 is intended for use in die making, mold making, and precision machining environments where small-diameter drilling demands strict dimensional control. The straight-flute geometry suits drilling into brittle or hard materials where conventional spiral flutes may induce vibration or chipping. This bit is typically run in CNC machining centers, drill presses, or precision hand-piece equipment operated by machinists, tool and die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians. It is sold individually and is part of OSG Series 200.
Designed as an OEM-style precision drill bit for use in standard 1/16 inch collet chucks, drill presses, and CNC spindles accepting round-shank tooling at 0.0625 inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a precision collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed required by the workpiece material. Carbide drill bits are brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading, misalignment, or excessive feed rates - ensure the work-holding setup is rigid and the spindle is properly trammed before drilling. Do not use excessive force to free a stuck bit, as this may cause fracture.
