The OSG 17547711 is a taper length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from M-6K cobalt high-speed steel and finished with OSG WXL coating, this bit delivers extended tool life when working through tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 120-degree standard point angle provides aggressive penetration with controlled entry, and the fast spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 0.2188 inches (7/32 inch) in diameter with a straight shank, it seats securely in standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders. The R-thinned web reduces thrust load at the cutting tip, making it well suited for production environments where tool wear and downtime are primary concerns.
This drill bit is intended for use in machine shop, fabrication, and maintenance applications where tapping-length or taper-length tooling is required. It performs across a wide range of workpiece materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, hardened steel, die steel, and aluminum. The Series 1750 designation places it within OSG WXL product line, which targets high-volume production and precision hole-making in ferrous materials. Typical install settings include CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Compatible with alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces. Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill for use in standard straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks accepting 7/32 inch shanks.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and coolant practices for cobalt tooling. Ensure the spindle and chuck are fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the bit. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the specified grip depth to prevent slippage during cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes when selecting RPM and feed rate for the workpiece material.
