The OSG 1754301 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in a wide range of challenging materials. Built from powdered metal with a steam oxide coating, it handles alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys where standard high-speed steel taps fall short. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes, making it well suited for tight-tolerance fastener applications. With a 15-degree helix angle and 2 right-hand flutes, it evacuates chips efficiently in short-chipping and stringy materials. Overall length is 2 inches, and it carries a 3B class of fit for standard commercial thread tolerance. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in both production and maintenance environments.
This tap fits production machining, CNC tapping, and manual tapping operations where a fine 6-32 UNC thread is required in tough or abrasion-resistant base materials. Do not back-drive a tap under power without confirming the machine supports synchronized retraction.
