The OSG 1752308 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 8-32 UNC internal threads in demanding materials. It features a modified bottoming chamfer, a 2B class of fit, and a right-hand thread direction with a right-hand flute spiral. Manufactured from powdered metal and finished with a TiCN (TICN) coating, the tap handles high-abrasion and high-heat applications that would wear out standard high-speed steel tooling. The H3 thread limit provides controlled oversize tolerance suitable for plated or tight-tolerance holes. Overall length is 2.125 inches with a shank diameter of 0.381 inches. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators install this tap in production and job-shop environments.
This tap is suited for threading operations in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. The 15-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry pull chips up and out of the hole, making it effective in blind-hole applications where chip evacuation is critical. It is used in both manual tapping and machine-tapping setups where a modified bottoming chamfer is required to cut threads closer to the bottom of a blind bore than a standard plug or taper tap allows.
Designed for cutting 8-32 UNC threads in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. Fits standard tap holders and collet chucks sized for a 0.381-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned with the drilled pilot hole before beginning the tapping cycle. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tap life. Reverse the tap periodically in manual operations to break and clear chips; in CNC applications, verify the programmed chip-clearing cycle matches the spiral flute geometry.
