The OSG 17518211 is an extra length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M6K-grade cobalt steel with a WXL finish, it delivers extended tool life in demanding production and maintenance applications. The bit measures 0.1562 inches (5/32 inch) in diameter with a 120-degree point angle and a fast spiral flute configuration. At 140 millimeters overall length with 92 millimeters of flute length, it reaches deeper holes than standard-length bits. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics use this bit where reach and material hardness are both factors.
This drill bit suits applications requiring extra reach in tight or deep workpiece geometries. The fast spiral promotes chip evacuation in harder materials, and the R-thinned web reduces thrust force at the point. The WXL coating helps maintain edge integrity under heat and friction. It fits standard drill chucks and CNC machine spindles accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Typical use cases include aerospace component drilling, heavy fabrication, and precision maintenance work where standard-length bits fall short.
Designed as an OEM-style extra length drill bit in the OSG Series 1750 product line, compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 5/32 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck capacity and runout tolerance before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on tight-tolerance bits. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material.
