The OSG 17504411 is an extra-length cobalt drill bit designed for drilling operations that require greater reach than standard-length tooling allows. Built from M6K-grade cobalt high-speed steel with a WXL finish, this bit handles tough ferrous and stainless materials with improved heat and wear resistance. The 1/8-inch (0.1250-inch decimal) diameter runs through the full straight-cylindrical shank, and the 120-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of general-purpose and production drilling applications. Right-hand cutting with a fast spiral flute pattern promotes efficient chip evacuation in deep-hole scenarios. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians rely on this series for precision work in manual or CNC setups.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where standard-length bits cannot reach. Typical applications include deep through-holes in fixtures, weldments, structural steel, and similar metalworking tasks. The R-thinned web reduces entry thrust and improves center-starting accuracy without sacrificing edge strength. With a tapered web configuration and 2-flute geometry, the bit maintains rigidity across its extended reach while still clearing chips effectively in ferrous and alloyed steel stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for 1/8-inch straight-shank drill chuck systems used in manual drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers requiring extra-length cobalt tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians in accordance with machine tool safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout with an indicator where precision tolerances are required. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged bit should be resharpened or replaced before drilling resumes.
