The OSG 1738508 is a spiral point plug tap designed for cutting right-hand 7/16-14 UNC internal threads in a range of ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS-E), the tap delivers improved wear resistance over standard HSS. The TiCN coating further reduces friction and extends tool life in harder or abrasive workpieces. With 3 flutes and a plug chamfer, this tap is suited for through-hole threading operations where chips can be pushed forward and cleared ahead of the cutting action. Overall length is 3.157 inches with a thread length of 0.881 inches (nominally 1-7/16 inches). Shank diameter is 0.323 inches.
