The OSG 1737408 is a spiral point tap designed to cut 1/4-20 UNC internal threads in a range of ferrous materials. It features three flutes with a plug chamfer, which provides a gradual cutting action suitable for through-hole applications. Manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS-E) and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tap delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to uncoated HSS taps. The H5 thread limit and 2B class of fit make it appropriate for standard fastener thread tolerances in production and maintenance machining.
