The OSG 1736501 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 10-32 UNF internal threads in a range of ferrous materials. It features a plug chamfer for starting in through-hole applications and three flutes that push chips ahead of the cut, keeping the flutes clear during forward feed. The tap is manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS-E) for improved toughness and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS. A steam oxide coating reduces friction and improves lubricity at the cutting edge. Thread limit is H2, producing a 3B class of fit for standard fastener assembly tolerances.

This tap is suited for through-hole threading operations on 10-32 UNF fastener applications in light manufacturing, maintenance, and repair work. Typical material applications include low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. The spiral point geometry makes it the preferred choice over hand taps when using a drill press, CNC machine, or tapping head where chip evacuation forward through the hole is practical.
