The OSG 1724608 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 10-32 UNF internal threads in a range of steel materials. It features a 45-degree helix angle with three right-hand spiral flutes that evacuate chips upward out of the hole — making it well suited for blind-hole tapping applications. The tap is manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel and carries a TICN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating for increased surface hardness and lubricity. It is ground to an H2 thread limit with a 3B class of fit, delivering the thread tolerance required for standard fastener assemblies in precision and general machining work.

This tap is intended for use on stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes than a plug or taper tap.
