Product Description

The OSG 1723008 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 3/8-16 UNC internal threads in a wide range of ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel with a TICN coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated alternatives. The 45-degree helix angle pulls chips up and out of the hole during tapping, making it well suited for blind-hole applications where chip evacuation is critical. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threads to be cut close to the bottom of a blind hole. This tap is used by machinists and maintenance technicians working in metalworking, toolroom, and production environments.

This tap is rated for use in stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. The 2B class of fit produces standard commercial-grade thread tolerances appropriate for the majority of fastener and assembly applications. Installation Notes
