Product Description

The OSG 1650512708 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in a wide range of metals. It cuts a 1/2-13 UNC thread profile with a bottoming chamfer, allowing threads to be formed close to the bottom of a blind hole. The 45-degree helix angle evacuates chips upward out of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing in tight cavities. Built from powdered metal and finished with a V (vanadium) coating, this tap handles demanding materials including alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, and cast iron. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this tap in CNC tapping centers and manual machines alike.

This tap is suited for production and maintenance tapping applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 2B class of fit produces a standard tolerance thread acceptable for the majority of general mechanical assemblies. Installation Notes

Install in a tapping chuck or rigid tap holder sized for the 0.367-inch shank diameter. Power down the machine and secure the workpiece before changing tooling. Follow applicable shop safety practices and manufacturer feed-rate guidelines for the material being tapped; never force a tap by hand or with excessive torque.
