The OSG 1645012243 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 12-24 UNC holes in ferrous metals. It features a 45-degree helix angle that evacuates chips upward out of the hole, making it well suited for blind-hole applications where chip packing is a concern. The tap is ground from vanadium high-speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN) to extend tool life and reduce friction during cutting. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Thread class is 2B with an H3 limit, targeting standard-tolerance threaded assemblies.
