The OSG 1635020252 is a thread forming tap designed for M20x2.50 metric coarse threading applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps cold-form threads by displacing material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips. This tap features a cobalt substrate with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating and a modified bottoming chamfer of 2.5 to 3 threads, making it well suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. It carries a 6H class of fit and D12 thread limit. Part of the OSG EXOPRO XPF Series 16350, it is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and skilled trades professionals in production and job-shop environments.

This tap is rated for use in a wide range of materials including aluminum, cast aluminum, carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, and titanium.
