The OSG 1635010150 is a thread forming tap designed for M10x1.50 metric coarse threading in both blind and through-hole applications. Part of the OSG EXOPRO XPF Series 16350, this tap uses a cold-forming process rather than cutting, displacing material to create strong, chip-free internal threads. It is manufactured from cobalt high speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating to extend tool life under demanding production conditions. With a modified bottoming chamfer of 2.5 to 3 threads, it is suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this tool.
This tap is built for a wide range of materials including aluminum, cast aluminum, carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, high-nickel alloy, and titanium. It fits standard tap holders and machines configured for right-hand threading. The 6H class of fit and H10 thread limit make it appropriate for precision metric threading in both production and maintenance machining environments, including CNC tapping centers and manual drill press setups requiring controlled thread tolerance.
Designed for use in standard tap holders and machine spindles configured for M10x1.50 metric coarse right-hand threading. Suitable for material applications coded P, M, N, and H per ISO material classification.
Thread forming taps require a correctly sized forming tap drill — consult a metric forming tap drill chart for the M10x1.50 pitch before drilling. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tapping spindle is properly aligned to avoid tap breakage. Adequate lubrication or tapping fluid appropriate to the workpiece material should be applied before and during the forming operation. Always power down or de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting tooling.
