The OSG 1626001108 is a thread forming STI tap designed for cutting 8-32 UNC internal threads in a wide range of materials. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than removing chips, producing stronger threads with a smoother finish. It is built from high-speed steel and carries a V (oxide) finish. The semi-bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 3.1496 inches, with a shank diameter of 0.22 inches and a thread length of 15/16 inches. The square drive size measures 0.165 inches. This tap is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual tapping operations in production and maintenance environments.
This tap is intended for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum, nickel, hardened steel, and titanium alloy. The H2 thread limit designation ensures the finished thread falls within a controlled tolerance range appropriate for 3B class of fit applications.
