The OSG 1615014151 is a thread forming tap designed for M14x1.50 metric fine threading in blind and through-hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps cold-form threads by displacing material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips. This tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for increased surface hardness and heat resistance. It carries a 6H class of fit with a D11 thread limit and features a modified bottoming chamfer of 2.5 to 3 threads, making it well suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 3.937 inches with a thread length of 0.787 inches. It belongs to the OSG EXOPRO XPF-OIL series and is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments.
