The OSG 1602607 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed to cut 7/16-20 UNF internal threads in blind and through holes. Built from high-speed steel with a nitride and oxide coating, it provides wear resistance and helps resist corrosion during use. The bottoming chamfer style allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole, making it a common choice when full thread depth near the hole base is required. With 4 flutes and an H5 thread limit, it holds tight tolerances suited to precision threading work in machining and fabrication environments. Installation is performed by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople using a tap handle, tapping head, or CNC machine.
This tap is designed for use in aluminum and cast iron applications where a 7/16-20 UNF thread form is specified. The right-hand thread direction and bottoming chamfer make it well suited for blind-hole tapping on production or repair work. It belongs to OSG Series 101C and is packaged as a single unit for individual tool management or replacement use.
Designed for cutting 7/16-20 UNF right-hand internal threads in aluminum and cast iron workpieces. Suitable for use with standard tap handles, tapping heads, and CNC tapping cycles compatible with straight flute HSS taps.
This tap is installed and used by machinists and maintenance tradespeople performing threading operations. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the correct tap drill size for 7/16-20 UNF is used prior to tapping. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tool life. For blind-hole applications, clear chips periodically to prevent tap breakage.
