Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tap handles 1/2-13 UNC threading with a plug chamfer, making it suitable for through-hole and deeper blind-hole applications where chip control is manageable. The 4-flute straight design provides rigidity and a clean thread form. With an overall length of 3.375 inches and a thread length of approximately 1.154 inches, the tool fits standard tap wrench and machine setups. The H11 thread limit designation indicates the tap produces slightly oversized threads, which accounts for material spring-back in certain alloys. This tap is typically installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals.
This tap is suited for threading operations in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. This tap should be installed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with threading operations and tool holding practices. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material before and during tapping to extend tool life and improve thread finish.
