The OSG 1592002 is a spiral point plug tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in a variety of materials. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it well suited for through-hole threading applications where chip evacuation is a priority. The cutting edges are ground from high-speed steel (HSS) for durability across a wide range of workpiece materials. An elektraLUBE coating reduces friction at the cutting face and helps extend tool life in production and maintenance environments. The H11 thread limit designates a specific oversize allowance of 0.0050 inches, supporting consistent fit with standard UNC fastener classes. Machinists and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tap.
This tap is intended for through-hole applications requiring 6-32 UNC threads in metal, plastics, and similar materials. With a thread length of 11/16 inches and an overall length (OAL) of 2.0 inches, it fits standard tap handles and tapping heads used in manual and machine tapping operations. The 2-flute, right-hand configuration is appropriate for general-purpose tapping in both shop and field maintenance settings. The plug chamfer provides a gradual thread lead-in, making it suitable for starting in pre-drilled through holes without excessive hand pressure.
Designed for cutting 6-32 UNC right-hand internal threads. Fits standard tap handles and machine tapping chucks sized for this shank series.
This tap should be installed and used by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with threading operations. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and that the correct tap drill size for 6-32 UNC has been used before tapping. Apply a suitable cutting fluid or rely on the elektraLUBE coating as the lubrication source depending on material and setup. Back the tap out periodically to clear chips and prevent tap breakage, particularly in harder materials.
