The OSG 15656205 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel applications. It measures 21/32 inches (0.6562 inches decimal) in diameter with a 7-27/32 inch overall length and a 5-3/16 inch flute length. The bit features a 130-degree drill point angle with R-thinned web geometry for improved self-centering and reduced thrust in tough materials. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in production drilling environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians working in metal fabrication and industrial maintenance are the primary users of this bit.
This bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel and alloy steel workpieces. Its straight-cylindrical shank measures 3/4 inch in diameter with a 2-1/32 inch shank length, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet-style holders found on drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and hand-held magnetic drills. The regular spiral flute pattern promotes efficient chip evacuation in both manual and automated setups. It is part of OSG Series 1500 and is built to handle demanding production-level applications where dimensional accuracy and consistent hole quality are required.
Designed for use in steel and alloy steel workpieces as indicated by primary workpiece material code P. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for 3/4 inch shank tooling.
Installation of this bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet holder and verify runout before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear regularly and replace before dimensional accuracy degrades.
