The OSG 15625005 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. Coated with titanium nitride (TiN) for extended tool life and reduced friction, it features a 130-degree R-thinned point that improves self-centering and reduces thrust in harder materials. The bit measures 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 7-27/32 inches and a spiral flute length of 5-3/16 inches. With a straight-cylindrical shank at 3/4 inch diameter, it seats securely in standard drill chucks and tool holders. This is a Series 1500 tool built for professional metalworking environments.
This bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through-holes in steel and alloy steel workpieces in production, maintenance, and fabrication settings. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute geometry handle chip evacuation efficiently in ferrous materials. Typical users include machinists, tool and die workers, maintenance mechanics, and metalworking tradespeople who need consistent, repeatable hole quality in harder stock. The tapered web configuration and R-thinned point reduce walking on entry, making it practical for both drill press and hand-held power tool applications.
Designed for drilling steel and alloy steel workpieces. Primary workpiece material code P. Fits standard drill chucks and tool holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 1500 high-performance drill line covering the 0.5000 to 0.6500 inch diameter range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking tradespeople familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating drill presses or handheld power tools. Do not exceed the recommended RPM and feed rates for the workpiece material.
