The OSG 15468805 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. It measures 15/32 inches (0.4688 inches decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 6-13/32 inches and a flute length of 4-5/16 inches. The bit features a 130-degree point angle with an R-thinned web for improved chip evacuation and easier entry into material. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding production environments. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this bit in shop and field drilling applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 1/2 inch in diameter and 1-25/32 inches in length, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems found on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power drills. The regular spiral flute geometry handles a wide range of production and maintenance drilling tasks where precise hole sizing and clean entry are required.
Designed for use in drilling applications involving steel and alloy steel (primary workpiece material code P). Fits standard 1/2-inch or larger drill chucks and collet systems on drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. Part of the OSG Series 1500 high-performance jobber length drill bit line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or skilled tradespeople familiar with rotating cutting tools and machine tool operation. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before starting the spindle. Always set spindle speed and feed rate appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before drilling. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the TiN coating is significantly worn or the point is damaged.
