The OSG 15343805 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, built for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. It measures 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 5.25 inches and a flute length of 3.4375 inches. The 130-degree drill point with R-thinned web geometry improves self-centering and reduces thrust in harder ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter, fitting standard drill chucks used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand drills. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and HVAC or plumbing fabricators working with steel plate or structural steel stock will find this bit well-suited for production or maintenance drilling.
This bit is designed for right-hand cutting in blind holes, cross holes, and through-hole drilling applications where dimensional accuracy and tool life in steel and alloy steel are priorities. The regular spiral flute promotes chip evacuation in these materials. It is part of the OSG Series 1500 lineup, which targets high-performance ferrous drilling. Typical use cases include drilling mounting holes in structural steel, equipment frames, and pipe hangers, as well as general fabrication work where a standard jobber-length geometry is appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill bit compatible with standard 3/8-inch or larger drill chucks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills. Primary workpiece materials are steel and alloy steel (ISO material code P).
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press and CNC tooling practices. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle speed is set appropriately for the material and diameter before starting the cut. Do not exceed rated cutting parameters for cobalt tooling in hardened alloys. Inspect the cutting edge and TiN coating for wear before each use to maintain hole tolerance within the stated diameter tolerance of plus 0 to minus 0.022 mm.
