The OSG 15281205 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. Measuring 9/32 inches (0.2812 inches decimal) in diameter with a 4-3/4 inch overall length, it features a 130-degree drill point angle and a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting life and reduces heat buildup. The R-thinned point geometry improves self-centering and reduces thrust force at entry. With a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute, this bit fits standard drill chucks and is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machines, and handheld power drills. It is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with ferrous metals.
This drill bit is built for demanding applications including blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering operations in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The 2-15/16 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance during deep-hole passes. The Series 1500 designation places it within OSG's high-performance cobalt line. It is appropriate for use in production and maintenance settings where tool life and hole quality in hard materials are priorities. The straight shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters, keeping setup time low.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank, suited for drilling steel and alloy steel with drill presses, CNC equipment, or handheld power drills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm the drill chuck is tightened to the shank before operation. Do not exceed the recommended cutting speed for the workpiece material and drill diameter. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during all drilling operations.
