The OSG 15242005 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit sized to Letter C (0.2420 inches / 6.15 mm), designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. It features a 130-degree split point angle with R-thinned web geometry for reduced thrust and self-centering entry without a center punch. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating extends tool life by increasing surface hardness and reducing friction. With an overall length of 4-9/16 inches and a 2-3/4 inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length drill chucks. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, and the right-hand spiral flute evacuates chips efficiently during through and blind hole operations.
This drill bit is intended for drilling in steel and alloy steel workpieces in production machining, maintenance, and fabrication environments. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, standard through-hole drilling, and self-centering starts in ferrous metals. The cobalt substrate and TiN coating make it well suited for harder or abrasive steel alloys where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. It is sold individually and fits any drill press, mill, or handheld drill accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application drill bit for use in any drill press, CNC drilling station, or handheld power drill accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling in steel and alloy steel workpieces per Primary Workpiece Material Code P.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or trade professional familiar with drill bit selection and cutting parameters for cobalt tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. When drilling steel or alloy steel, use appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant where conditions allow to maximize coating life. Do not exceed the rated cutting parameters for cobalt bits in hardened steel without confirming material hardness first.
