The OSG 15201005 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this bit handles demanding production environments where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. Wire size 7 corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.2010 inches (5.11 mm). The 130-degree split point angle promotes self-centering and reduces walking on entry. A tapered web with R-thinning reduces thrust force and improves chip clearance. Overall length is 4-1/4 inches with a 2-7/16-inch flute length, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change systems that accept a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance mechanics, and fabricators working in job shop or production environments. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and through-hole work in mild steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials. The regular spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation in both hand-held and machine-mounted operations. This bit should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with speeds and feeds for cobalt drill bits in ferrous materials. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Do not exceed recommended RPM for the diameter and material combination. When replacing a worn bit, inspect the chuck or collet for wear that could cause slippage or premature tool failure.
