Product Description

The OSG 15193505 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in No. 10 wire size (0.1935 inches, 4.92 mm) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating and a 130-degree split point. It is built for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel, delivering heat resistance and edge retention beyond standard HSS tooling. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production and maintenance drilling environments. The bit features a right-hand cut, a regular spiral flute, and an R-thinned web for improved penetration and chip evacuation. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with ferrous metals are the primary users.

This bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering applications in steel and alloy steel workpieces. It fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank. The 4-1/4-inch overall length and 2-7/16-inch flute length place it in standard jobber proportions, making it a direct fit for benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld drills used in fabrication, maintenance, and general metalworking shops. It is sold individually.

Key Features

  • Cobalt construction provides superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS bits when drilling hard ferrous materials
  • Titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends cutting edge life in repetitive drilling operations
  • 130-degree split point promotes self-centering and reduces walking on hard surfaces without a center punch
  • R-thinned web improves chip flow and lowers thrust force requirements at the cutting tip
  • Right-hand spiral flute with regular helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation in steel and alloy steel
  • Straight cylindrical 1/4-inch shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collets

Compatibility

Designed for use in steel and alloy steel workpieces. Compatible with drill chucks and collets accepting a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, drilling, and self-centering tool applications per OSG Series 1500 specifications.

Installation Notes

Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance professional familiar with metal-cutting tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a cut. Coolant through is not supported by this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling steel to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit when diameter tolerance or edge condition falls outside acceptable limits.
