The OSG 15147005 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. Sized to wire gauge No. 26 (0.1470 decimal inch / 3.73 mm), it features a 130-degree split point geometry with X-thinned web and a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life in abrasive and harder ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3/16 inch in diameter, and the overall length is 3-5/16 inches with a 1-7/8 inch flute length. This bit is part of OSG Series 1500 and is intended for use by machinists and trade professionals working in metal fabrication, mechanical contracting, and industrial maintenance applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering applications in steel and alloy steel workpieces. Its 2-flute right-hand spiral configuration with a regular spiral type provides consistent chip evacuation in production and field drilling scenarios. The TiN coating reduces friction and heat buildup, making it a practical choice for repetitive drilling in ferrous materials without coolant-through capability. It ships as a single unit and is sized for use in standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shanks.
Designed for drilling steel and alloy steel workpieces (primary workpiece material code P). Suited for blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering operations. Compatible with any drill chuck or CNC spindle accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists, millwrights, and trade professionals using standard drill presses, hand drills, or CNC machining centers. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant on the workpiece when drilling deep holes to manage heat, as this bit does not support coolant-through. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace when point geometry shows signs of degradation to maintain hole tolerance.
