The OSG 15128505 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in No. 30 wire size (0.1285 inches / 3.26 mm diameter), designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. The bit features a 130-degree split point with X-thinning for self-centering entry and reduced thrust on hard materials. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating extends surface hardness and tool life in production drilling applications. Overall length is 3-1/16 inches (77 mm) with a 1-5/8 inch (41 mm) flute length. This bit suits machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking tradespeople running production or maintenance drilling operations.
The OSG 15128505 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet-style holders across benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power drills. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in ferrous materials. This size is commonly used in precision metalwork, fastener hole preparation, and light fabrication tasks requiring tight diameter tolerances.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and alloy steel (material code P). Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking tradespeople familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck or collet is properly tightened on the straight shank. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting the bit. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed range for cobalt-class tooling in the material being drilled; consult the OSG Series 1500 speed-and-feed chart for proper operating parameters.
