The OSG 15093805 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling steel and alloy steel in production and maintenance environments. It measures 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 2-1/2 inches and a flute length of 1-1/4 inches. The bit features a 130-degree X-thinned point for self-centering entry and reduced thrust, and carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life in ferrous materials. A straight-cylindrical shank of 1/8 inch diameter fits standard drill chucks. This is a high-performance Series 1500 tool intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and HVAC or mechanical contractors drilling into structural steel components.
The OSG 15093805 is suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and through-hole applications in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The right-hand spiral flute with regular spiral geometry evacuates chips efficiently during standard drilling operations. The X-thinned web reduces walking at entry, making it practical for use without a center punch in many setups. Typical applications include fabrication shops, field service drilling in HVAC equipment frames, and light manufacturing where consistent hole diameter tolerance is required. Diameter tolerance is held to plus 0 and minus 0.014 mm from nominal.
Designed for drilling steel and alloy steel workpieces. Rated for blind hole, cross-hole, through-hole, and self-centering drilling applications per OSG Series 1500 specifications. Compatible with any drill press, hand drill, or machining center chuck accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Install the shank fully into the chuck and tighten securely before operation. Secure the workpiece to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hardened alloy steels to manage heat buildup, noting this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the TiN coating is fully worn through at the cutting lips.
