The OSG 1433600 is a spiral flute plug tap designed for threading 3/4-10 UNC holes in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features 4 right-hand flutes with a 50-degree helix angle that efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole during through-hole and blind-hole tapping operations. The plug chamfer provides a gradual thread lead-in, making it well suited for general-purpose production tapping. The tap carries an H3 thread limit designation, indicating a controlled oversize tolerance appropriate for standard UNC fit classes. It measures 4.25 inches overall length and is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, or drill press tapping setups.
This tap is rated for use in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. The spiral flute geometry promotes consistent chip flow in both through-hole and blind-hole applications, reducing the likelihood of chip packing that is common with straight-flute taps. It is a practical choice for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and field fabrication work where 3/4-10 UNC threaded holes are required across a variety of base metals.
Designed as a general-purpose 3/4-10 UNC spiral flute plug tap compatible with standard tap holders and tapping heads sized for the 0.59-inch shank diameter. Suitable for use across the material grades listed in the specifications.
This tap should be installed and operated by a machinist or qualified metalworking professional. Secure the workpiece fully before beginning the tapping operation and ensure the tap is held in a rigid, properly aligned holder to prevent tap breakage. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material. Follow shop safety practices and relevant OSHA machine guarding standards when operating tapping equipment.
