The OSG 1415001208 is a thread forming tap designed for M3x0.50 Metric Coarse threading in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. Manufactured from Powdered Metal High-Speed Steel (PM-HSS) and finished with a TiCN coating, it is built for demanding production environments where tool life and thread quality are priorities. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole, and the 2 to 2.5 thread chamfer length provides a controlled lead-in. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.

This tap is suited for threading blind holes in a wide range of workpiece materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The EXOTAP VP-NRT series is optimized for high-speed tapping operations on CNC machining centers and tapping machines.
