The OSG 1413200 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads to the 10-24 UNC standard. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries an H3 thread limit and a 2B/3B class of fit, making it suitable for general-purpose threading work where standard tolerance is required. The plug chamfer style allows the tap to start in a through-hole or a blind hole with adequate depth. At 2.375 inches overall length with a 0.511-inch thread length, it fits standard tap holders and tapping heads used daily by machinists and maintenance technicians. The 50-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation in the spiral flute design, reducing the chance of chip packing during the cut.
This tap is applied in production and maintenance machining environments where 10-24 UNC threaded holes are required. Its material application range covers aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel, making it a versatile choice across general metalworking, HVAC equipment fabrication, electrical enclosure work, and industrial maintenance. It is sold individually and is compatible with standard machine tapping setups as well as hand tapping with a T-handle or adjustable tap wrench.
Designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. Fits standard tap holders, quick-change tapping heads, and hand tap wrenches sized for the 0.194-inch shank diameter.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with proper tapping procedures. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole before starting the cut. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Reverse the tap periodically to break chips when tapping by hand, and never force the tap if resistance increases unexpectedly.
