The OSG 1410110608 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting or producing chips. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tap delivers enhanced wear resistance and heat tolerance during high-friction forming operations. It features a Modified Bottoming chamfer with 2 to 2.5 chamfered threads, allowing it to form threads close to the bottom of blind holes. The overall length is 2.4803 inches (63.50 mm) and the thread length is 0.4724 inches (12.00 mm). Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and metalworking tradespeople rely on forming taps like this one to produce strong, work-hardened threads in ductile materials.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading applications in a range of metals including alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. The M6x1.00 Metric Coarse thread specification makes it a standard choice for metric fastener applications across general manufacturing, tool and die work, and precision machining. It carries the HY-PRO NRT trade designation and belongs to OSG Series 14101. The right-hand thread direction and D14 thread limit support consistent, repeatable results in production environments.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces requiring M6x1.00 Metric Coarse internal threads. Material application codes P and N apply.
Thread forming taps require a precisely sized forming tap drill hole — consult the OSG Series 14101 drill chart for the correct pre-drill diameter before use. Power down and secure the workpiece in a drill press or tapping machine before operation. Adequate lubrication or cutting fluid is essential when forming threads in steel and stainless steel to prevent galling and tool breakage. This tool is intended for use by trained machinists and metalworking professionals familiar with tapping torque requirements and machine setup.
