The OSG 1410105105 is a thread forming tap designed for M10x1.50 metric coarse threading in blind hole applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tap cold-forms internal threads without cutting, which reduces chip generation and produces stronger thread geometry. The modified bottoming chamfer with 2 to 2.5 chamfered threads allows the tap to thread close to the bottom of a blind hole. Class of fit is 6H with a D10 thread limit. Overall length is 2.9134 inches (74.60 mm) and tapping depth reaches 1.2520 inches (31.80 mm). This is a right-hand, single-piece tap sold individually.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is rated for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The HY-PRO NRT series is engineered for high-performance blind hole threading where chip control is a concern and thread strength is critical. Typical installation settings include CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines in industrial manufacturing or job shop environments.
Designed for blind hole thread forming in alloy steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum workpieces requiring M10x1.50 metric coarse internal threads to a 6H class of fit.
Thread forming taps require a specific forming tap drill size — do not use a standard cut-tap drill diameter, as the hole must be sized for material displacement rather than chip removal. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned to the spindle axis before engaging. Apply appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil rated for the workpiece material to reduce heat and tool wear. Installation should be performed by a machinist or qualified trade professional familiar with tapping torque limits and machine feed rates.
