The OSG 1410105000 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting chips. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright finish, it produces M10x1.50 metric coarse threads using a modified bottoming chamfer with 2 to 2.5 chamfered threads. This geometry makes it well suited for blind hole threading applications where maximum thread depth is needed close to the bottom of the bore. The right-hand, 4H class-of-fit thread limit D6 design delivers consistent dimensional accuracy. It is installed by licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance tradespeople working with CNC or manual tapping equipment.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading operations across a range of metallic workpiece materials. Suitable materials include alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. Its cobalt construction provides added heat and wear resistance when working with tougher alloys and stainless grades. The HY-PRO NRT series is a recognized OSG product line built around form tapping, making this tap appropriate for production and maintenance environments where chip-free threading is required and coolant-through tooling is not needed.
Designed for blind hole thread forming in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. Part of the OSG HY-PRO NRT series 14101.
Thread forming taps should be installed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping speeds, feeds, and lubrication requirements for form tapping. Power down or de-energize any machine tool spindle before changing tooling. Use an appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil for the workpiece material - form tapping generates higher torque than cut tapping, so verify the tapping machine or tap holder torque capacity before use. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended RPM for the workpiece material and tap diameter.
