The OSG 1410102705 is a thread forming tap in the HY-PRO NRT series, designed for M4x0.70 metric coarse threading in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. This tap features a cobalt construction with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating for extended tool life under demanding conditions. The modified bottoming chamfer, with 2 to 2.5 chamfered threads, allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. It carries a 6H class of fit with a D6 thread limit, meeting standard tolerance requirements for metric fastener assemblies.
