The OSG 1400101508 is a thread forming tap in the HY-PRO NRT series, designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting chips. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, this tap handles demanding materials including alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, carbon steel, die steel, and aluminum. The bottoming chamfer style — with 1 to 1.5 chamfered threads — allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Sized for 1-72 UNF threads at a class of fit 2B with an H3 thread limit, this tap is used by machinists and precision tooling technicians working with small-diameter fastener applications.

This tap is suited for blind hole threading operations in production and maintenance environments where chip evacuation is not practical. The 1-72 UNF thread form is common in miniature fastener applications found in instrumentation, electronics, and precision mechanical assemblies. The thread forming process displaces material rather than cutting it, resulting in stronger threads and eliminating chip-related issues in confined bores. Right-hand thread direction is standard.
