The OSG 1400100108 is a thread forming tap designed for cutting 0-80 UNF internal threads in blind hole applications. Part of the HY-PRO NRT series, it uses a bottoming chamfer with 1.5 to 2 chamfered threads, allowing threads to be formed close to the bottom of a blind hole. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and carries a TiCN coating for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. Overall length is 1.6913 inches, with a thread length of 0.3173 inches and a tapping depth of 0.3500 inches. Right-hand thread direction and a Class 2B fit with H3 thread limit are standard. Installation requires a matching tap wrench or machine holder appropriate for the 0.1410-inch shank diameter.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading in alloy steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The bottoming chamfer configuration makes it the correct choice when full threads are needed at the base of a blind hole, a common requirement in precision machining, toolroom work, and equipment repair across industrial and manufacturing environments. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with small-diameter fastener threads in the 0-80 UNF range will find this tap appropriate for both manual and machine tapping operations.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces requiring 0-80 UNF internal threads at a Class 2B fit. Material application codes P and N apply per the supplier specification.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker in a tap wrench or CNC/manual tapping machine holder sized for a 0.1410-inch shank. Power down or disengage the spindle before securing the tap in the holder. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material before tapping, particularly when working with stainless or hardened steel. Do not exceed the rated tapping depth and back the tap out carefully to avoid breakage in small-diameter blind holes.
